Events 2019
Silver Screening 2-For-1
LIVES IMPACTED:
>2300
JCI Mandarin began this initiative in 2017, with the intention to allow interaction between volunteers and seniors, albeit in a more casual setting via watching a movie together. The movie date was a heartwarming opportunity for volunteers to spend a day with our elderly citizens as well as a chance to give back to society. Jack Neo, one of the people instrumental to the growth and development of Singapore’s entertainment industry, graced the event as director alongside his crew. This interaction with a well known entertainer helped make the seniors’ movie date even better.
Gift Of Autumn: Bags Full of Love
FAMILIES IMPACTED:
>2000
Another project initiated in 2017, JCI Mandarin has been giving out bags of necessities to the underprivileged families in Singapore. This event coincides with the fall season, and to the Chinese, the mid-Autumn festival period. The festive period has roots in unity and family, and as such, the gifts are coined as “bags full of love”. JCI Mandarin would also like to send our thanks and gratitude for the generous contributions from our sponsors and donors as well as the time and effort by our volunteers enabled us to impact many lives and families.
Sian Chay Fundraisers
Total fund raised:
$767000
Sian Chay Medical Institution is one of the partners of JCI Mandarin. It is a non-profit organisation that provides free traditional Chinese medicine practice, which includes both the consultations and medications, to underprivileged families. This partnership began in 2015 and has continued ever since, holding events and raising funds to provide continued support for their generous cause. JCI Mandarin’s fundraisers have helped the development and adoption of Sian Chay branches across the country, with the intention of impacting more lives and being more accessible to those who need it.
Knowledge and Empowerment
JCI Mandarin believes that the youth are the future pillars of Singapore. Education in all forms, therefore, is important to impart knowledge and skills to empower the younger generation to grow. As such, JCI Mandarin has partnered with external organisations such as Value Investing College, Southeast Community Development Council and Skillsfuture to provide opportunities for learning. JCI Mandarin also partakes in the in-house training by JCI as a whole, such as JCI Impact, effective leadership, effective meetings. The annual National Convention brings together the jaycees of Singapore on a national level to mingle and learn from one another. These training and events help to increase the exposure to all our members as well as a chance for personal empowerment.
